So what did you learn?  Hopefully you have discovered that people express what is going on in their lives and in their country through the art they create.  They may paint pictures, create sculptures, carve things in wood, paint on rocks or buildings, or even take photographs or movies.  They say, “A picture paints a thousand words,” and you have seen that phrase in action as you have examined paintings or photographs or sculptures that tell the story of an entire period of American history.
